ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture has existed for many thousands of years, likely originating in Asia. The medical traditions of Asia have many similarities and are all encompassing ways of living, including healthcare, diet, exercise and lifestyle. Chinese Medicine acupuncture is an incredibly broad and deep medical system, and is now more popular than it has ever been, treating people all over the world. The spread of authentic, traditional healthcare is of great benefit and gives more options in this modern age with so many illnesses, chronic conditions and stubborn aches and pains.

Acupuncture improves the flow of energy in the body and works on the principle of Bù Tōng Zhè Tòng, Tōng Zé Bù Tòng, a key phrase in Chinese Medicine, meaning, if the energy isn't flowing freely there is pain and disease, if the energy is flowing freely there is no pain or disease

There are many ways to treat people with acupuncture. I generally choose points on your arms and legs, away from the site of the pain or issue. For example, I may put needles in your arm to relieve pain in your back, or, put needles in your leg to help your digestion. This allows you to stay clothed during the treatment, only removing your shoes and socks. Loose fitting clothing is recommended to give access up to your knees and elbows. Acupuncture can help the whole body and most conditions, internal and external; for more information click here.

Your initial consultation is in a one to one setting, where we will discuss your condition, look at your medical history, and have an acupuncture treatment tailored to your specific needs. Subsequent appointments are in a multi-bed setting, similar to a hospital ward environment, where you have your own private cubicle and other patients are in the room. This allows for the most cost effective way of treatment and is very popular.

BSc (Hons) Acupuncture MBAcC

I began studying Chinese Medicine over 20 years ago, beginning with Qigong (Chinese Medicine exercise) in 2004. In 2008 I started a degree in acupuncture at the University of Lincoln and graduated in 2011 with a BSc 1st Class Honours. My training was in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements, and along with the Qigong studies, this gave me a thorough foundation in acupuncture. My practice of acupuncture is thanks to the many great teachers I have had, including world renowned experts in their field.

I am a licensed acupuncturist and an insured member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), and adhere to its professional standards and safe practice. I also continue to develop my acupuncture knowledge attending post graduate training courses.

I am certified in Qigong and practice every day. I also have a regular meditation practice, which is as rewarding as it is challenging. I'm a fan of traditional cuisines from all over the world, and I am a big believer in the saying, let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food. I am always amazed at how small changes to diet can help a person's health so significantly.

The body always moves towards balance if it can, one of my teacher's explained, and in my clinical experience I have found this to be so true. One of the main aims of the practitioner is to help remove the obstacles, thereby allowing the body to help itself. I love practicing acupuncture, it is a great joy to see so much benefit come from just a few needles.
